Beginning a journey of questions, faith, and growth

Hi, my name is Joe! I’m the writer of the Headed Home newsletter.

Every Monday we explore one question about Jesus, the Bible, and the history of Christianity. I started this newsletter to explore my own questions about Jesus and to share what I find each week with others. I will admit though…I usually have more questions than answers.

With that said, it’s only right that you get to know the person behind these words a little better.

Growing up, I wasn’t faithful or religious but knew enough to pray during difficult times. From first grade to eighth grade, my Mom pushed me into a Catholic Sunday school class. However, I would describe our family more as practicing Chreasters than Christians because we’d only attend church on Christmas and Easter. Most Sundays you’d find our family at one of my sports games rather than church.

This is not a bash on my family or upbringing. This is an explanation to share that I'm still early at learning and growing in my faith each day.

The amount of people who know more than me about Jesus, the Bible, and the history of Christianity are many. I’m not writing this newsletter for them. I’m writing this newsletter for those with questions who don’t know who to ask. I’m writing this newsletter for those who (like my former self) sporadically attend church, sit in the back away from others, and don’t understand most Bible stories.

Today, I am a 23 year old practicing Christian at a non-denominational church in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to my own research each week, I’ll rely on my community of believers here to help navigate difficult questions.

I’m excited to work on this project with you all, and make sure to look out for the next edition each Monday!

This is what I look like 👆🏼You’ll usually find me with both thumbs up in a picture…there’s a reason for it :)
